Captain’s Log: 6/7/112 – Guristas Mayhem

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Guristas LogoToday has been a busy day, we found a Provincial HQ belonging to the Guristas yesterday, and after rallying forces we proceeded to destroy the pirates and destroy the HQ.

After this we got contacted by this figure that didn’t show up in any databases we had available, he said he knew some more Guristas bases, he gave us the coordinates and we decided to call it a day.

Today after having slept to regain our spent energy we pursued the location this mysterious figure had pointed us to and sure, another Guristas base was found at the designated location, once arrived we destroyed all the present forces including one of the higher ranking officers (Dread Guristas).

After this we were directed to another even bigger base of operations by the mysterious figure, after warping into this facility it became apparent that we had not accounted for these forces.

Yuuko was with us and was designated to keep the enemy forces busy while we picked ‘em of one by one. However after she managed to get their attention her shields melted in mere seconds, we were able to evacuate but Yuuko’s Drake including it’s crew were lost.

It turned out this base had a Missile Battery that was launching EM missiles that we had not accounted for as Guristas normally don’t use the said ammo type.

After this we went home (Yuuko in her pod) and started planning for tomorrow to try another time to get rid of these pesky pirates.

This evening it turned out some Guristas were in our home system including one of their higher ranking officers, Yuuko already got herself a new Drake and we managed to eliminate them, we could even recover a Dread Guristas Cruise Missile launcher from the officer’s wreckage.

To Finally Roam the Heavens

By Xeross Posted in EVE Online, In Character, Yuuko Sozu Leave a Comment

The day had finally come, the day she has been dreaming about ever since she was little, the day on which she would finally roam the heavens.

She has childhood recollections of a man of Matari origin who used to visit her family home. After lengthy conversations with her parents, he would occasionally find the time to recount wondrous stories of starfields and nebulae by which she was captivated. Ever since he started telling these stories she has dreamed of roaming the skies just like him, and when she was old enough she applied and was accepted into the academy.

Now years later she has finally graduated from the academy and she will finally roam the skies, now she did have a problem, what to do now. After thinking for a while she remembered someone that might have a job for her, the Matari man who used to visit her family home.

After she figured out how to contact him she asked him if he still remembered her, which he did. Hereafter she asked if he had any work for her as she just graduated from the academy and was in need of some work, He replied by saying he indeed had some work, he needed some items moved to the outer region of space he lives in.

The mission ahead looked dangerous and thrilling but she was excited and not afraid to travel to the outer regions of New Eden, even with her limited experience. She accepted the job and requested the instructions from Xeross.

The instructions were as follows: Pick-up a caldari cruiser blueprint. Then deliver this to a station in an outer region, a region she would soon call her home: Cobalt Edge.

Xeross gave her the ISK for a ship that would be up for the job and gave her the blueprint to pick-up. After preparing for the journey ahead she set her navigator to Cobalt Edge and undocked.

With her new merlin, a fast and agile small frigate class vessel she managed to reach Cobalt Edge unharmed. Arriving at the designated station almost an hour after she left she gave the blueprint to the Matari agent and asked him for a new assignment.

After all the trip was long and dangerous, and she did not fancy going back all the way to Empire space. He replied that he and his allies could use some help to fend of rogue drones during their mining operations and that there would always be work for a motivated and reliable pilot like her. Her heart swelled with pride, she agreed to stay.

Resting up after the perilous journey down here , she’ll be increasing her knowledge of the ships she’s expected to fly to aid Xeross and his allies to the best of her abilities.

I want to thank Yue Rubens, Casiella Truza and all the other people that helped me improve this piece of fiction. Please leave a comment if you have any suggestions or comments, thanks.

A new chapter begins…

By Xeross Posted in EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Rewinding to a few weeks ago…

A notification appears on my display, “New EVE Mail”. Computer, read new mail.

To: Ghosts of EMC
Subject: Null-Sec

We have decided to make the move to null-sec, everyone should join Fusion Death Inc. as soon as possible. and wait further instructions.

Regards, The Board.

A few days later after being accepted by Fusion Death Inc.

Today is the day, we’ve moved all our stuff over the past few days so that it can be moved into our territory and are now ready to set off, after plotting a course and gathering up we set off to null-sec.

Under way for a while now it’s been pretty quiet in low-sec, we did encounter some people here but nothing posing a threat, till now things went smoothly but something tells me it won’t stay that way for long. One of my comrades just notified us that the system up ahead is also known as the “scary zone”.

Arrived in the “scary zone” no signs of hostiles, okay guys align to the next gate and warp to it. 0.3 AU removed from gate, almost there, ugh, what’s this. We are stuck in what seems a blueish bubble with some electric current running through it, “What’s this ?” I ask one of my comrades. “That’s a warp bubble” he replies “It will prevent you from warping”

“Oh, so… what do I do now ?”

“Well you approach the gate and jump through, unless there’s hostiles than you’ll want to find the fastest way out of it.”

“Ok, no hostiles, I’ll approach the gate.”.

Suddenly one of my comrades yells through the comms “I’m being chased by a 30 man fleet, I’m trying to shake ‘em off. Continue along the set course”. Nearing the gate, activating gate, jumping.

Approx. 20 minutes later…

Welcome home, a familiar voice says through the comms. We’ve made it into our home system, after a tour around the Control Tower we were directed to the station a few jumps over to repair our ships and to get some rest after the long  journey down.

And so a new chapter begins…

Captain’s Log: 6/1/112 – First Blood!

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Captain’s log the 6th of January 112yc, 20:31.

Today was a good day, I’m still flying solo in my Rifter and slowly gathering more knowledge and experience about fighting other pilots.

Today I undocked to continue my journey through low-sec looking for some fights, however I didn’t accomplish this today, though I did get my first kill.

While travelling through low-sec I got into a system and found a lonely Mammoth together with a Retriever in an asteroid belt, as I neared them I locked them and opened fire, however the ship’s systems warned me I was in CONCORD secured space, slightly confused I checked my navigation computer and found that I was in Empire Space, so I cancelled the gunfire.

After making this discovery I tried to think of a way to still get the kill, and that’s when I spotted some wrecked Guristas ships which my ship indicated where killed by their drones. So I approached one opened it and ignored the “This is someone else’s kill” warning.

After this the Retriever warped of and I requested a convo with the Mammoth pilot, he accepted it and I asked him if his friend had any drones left (And if he could send them after me), he said his friend didn’t and I decided to wait for him to come back.

After a few minutes the Retriever pilot arrives back in a Caracal, I quickly targeted him and started orbiting him at 500m distance, I activated my afterburners, damage control, webber and warp scrambler. He started firing at me and so I also started firing at him, after a while it seemed that I was at the losing hand, my shield were nearly depleted and his halfway through however, after a while his armour started burning up a lot faster then mine and it looked like I might win, after a while we were both in structure but fortunately his decreased faster then mine and a few seconds later his ship exploded.

So after this I decided not to destroy his pod and send him back to the clone vats as that would make CONCORD take actions against me, I warped to a safe place in the system and waited till I could dock again. After this I docked and now I can proudly say I made my first kill.

After that I continued to roam low-sec and thought I had scanned down a Bantar, however upon arriving at the site all that was there was a Jaguar that locked me and so I lost “Rifter II“, after this I went back to get “Rifter III” and continue my roam but I haven’t been able to scan down anything interesting after that.

Now I’m docked in a station in low-sec and resting to continue my journey tomorrow. I’m also thinking about joining the Blood Money Bootcamp which is opening their doors for new recruits the 17th of January.

And finally I also got some more notes regarding PvP, I’ve updated “Attachment A” of yesterdays log.

Captain’s Log: 5/1/112 – Entering Low-Sec

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Captain’s Log, 5th of January 112yc.

After getting my Rifter assembled and configured yesterday she was ready for her maiden flight today. Flying without any crew on-board takes some getting used too, however the silence is nice for a change.

First thing today was getting familiar with the Directional Scanner, I’ve read a manual on it recently so I understand how it works. So we flew to a random Empire system to try and find someone in an asteroid belt.

After 3 minutes of scanning I found someone and 30 seconds later I arrived at the belt to see the person warp away just as I left warp myself.

So now it was time to  head into Low Security space, after trying to find a target for a while I found a Caracal but I made the mistakes of hesitating whether to attack and the Caracal took off. After moving around and scanning again I traced him down again but he had some company this time. After rescanning a few times I found the Caracal was gone and a wreck had taken his place.

After this I decided to send a system wide message containing the text: “I see you got the Caracal”, after this I got a confirmation that they indeed successfully killed it. And after looking at the public info of these people it’s apparent they were pirates.

After this 1 attempted to scan me down and attack me, however I’m not too sure if this was indeed the case. I managed to get away quickly before they got near enough to disrupt my systems.

After this I continued my journey and a few systems further I requested the list of people currently in that system to find there was a group of pirates that were all part of something called “The Bloodmoney Cartel”, after seeing them destroying some ships again (Through my scanner) one appeared next to me I instinctively docked at the station.

After a while I decided to undock and this pirate was still floating near the station, I think I somehow panicked or something because before I knew it I had locked on to him and opened fire. However after a short while he burned through my shield, armor and structure without me even burning through his shield.

After this I docked at the station again because he would get shot if he podded me, in the 30 minutes after that we had a conversation on ships, ammo and other pirating related things (See Attachment A) , thanks to this I now have some more knowledge about PvP.

After that I headed back to get a new Rifter assembled so I could continue my journey, but still a loss is a loss.

Captain’s Log: 5/1/112 – Attachment A – PVP Notes

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Barrage = Medium range, slow tracking speed, not suited for orbiting at low ranges

EMP/Fusion = Good for short range orbiting
EMP=Shield, Fusion = Armor

Stations and Gates have guns that fire after you’ve killed someone, cooldown of 30 minutes.
Under a certain security status they will also attack when you just engage someone.

6/1/112yc Update

When one opens someone else’s wrecks or containers and he/she attacks you you are free to destroy this person’s ship.
One minute after such a fight you can dock at stations again and you can also jump to other systems again.

Barrage is optimal at 1100-1500m and EMP/Fusion should just be at 500m orbit

Captain’s Log: 4/1/112 – CareYarrbear

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Comments (1)

Captain’s log, 4th of January 112yc.

I has been a tragic day for me and my crew, while travelling towards a station to get some trade goods we encountered a few pirates, after warping into the system and seeing these near our ship I kind of blacked out and issued the warp command in the hopes we could escape them.

“Initiating Warp” the computer said, immediately followed by “Being Targetted”, and quickly after that they opened fire. Shields, armor and hull quickly burned down and the crew together with the ship were gone.

I found myself only protected by my pod, again I was immediately locked and shot at, 2 seconds later I woke up in a station in a fresh clone.

Fresh Clone, New Plans

After waking up in the station I felt like I wouldn’t start hauling any time soon again, I felt like I wanted more action. So after a while of thinking the options over the most appealing way of action would be actually engaging other players just like these pirates engaged me.

So after launching the browser I started looking for info on good equipment for these kind of operations and other tactics and configurations that would proof useful.

After gathering the data it seemed that a Rifter would be a good ship to start this new career path in,So I purchased the equipment on the market (In fourfold so I have some spare ones) and also bought the skill books.

So now the hangar crew have fully assembled my Rifter, and I’m now training to be able to control some of the systems that are installed.

Captain’s Log: 3/1/112

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

Captain’s log, 3rd of January 112yc.

Today has been a busy day for me and my crew, we’ve travelled long distances both through high-sec and low-sec space. We have only encountered 1 group of people that were marked as dangerous/illicit but fortunately they didn’t engage.

All this travelling was done with 1 goal in mind: Profit. We’ve picked up cargo in various locations to sell it for profit somewhere else. We even got lucky in 1 system were we could sell it to another station in the same system for profit, however this route ran out of supply after 2 runs.

We’ll be docked in station for the rest of the day so me and my crew can rest.

For a full market report see Attachment A.

Captain’s Log: 2/1/112

By Xeross Posted in Captain's Log, EVE Online, In Character Leave a Comment

It’s the 2nd of January of the new year, primarily stayed in station the last few days except for a mission or 2. Celebrating the new year was tricky because we have yet to discover a way to leave our pods, once you get in you can’t get out.

Cleaned a dead-space compelx full of Guristas in order of my agent. Also cancelled all open buy orders we had. They were positioned at the wrong places and just took to long to fill up.

I also got the maintenance bay crew to install a new module in my ship, NavBot, Type J, it has the ability to scan the current region for any good trade runs. After installation we undocked to try it out. After 3 hours of primarily just letting our autopilot hum along we made about 5 million ISK.

I’ve gathered the ships technical crew to start working on a “Trade Run Tracking System” or TRTS for short, this will allow us to log all our trade activities through a simple interface and present them in an easy to read format.

Computer, save secure file, end recording.

OOC: As I love roleplaying I decided I should give it a try too, and yes the computer accepts the same commands as Cia’s because it’s both minmatar design (Correct me if I’m wrong).
